James and Mary Andrus

James married his stepsister, for his father James Sr. had married Mary's mother, who was a widow of Abraham Andrus. Mary was the daughter of Abraham Andrus [/Andrews] and Sarah Porter and was baptized at Farmington on May 18, 1689.

Their marriage date has not yet been discovered.

James was a Deacon of the Congregational church in Danbury1.

The Final Years for James

The will for James, dated September 16, 1760, mentions his wife Mary; children James, Benjamin, Hezekiah, Thomas, Mary Phoebe, Abigail and Sarah; grandson Michael; and granddaughters Anna and Amy, the children of son John, deceased. The will was proved on June 23, 1761; with witnesses Captain John Benedict and Lieutenant John Benedict. Inventory was filed on October 20, 1761 to the amount of £2,4611.
