John's Early Years
John left his home and family and started out on his own. He settled in Smith's Falls, Montague Twp., Lanark County, Ontario, there he worked for the railway and worked his way up to a train dispatcher. He met Mary Elizabeth Barnes and decided to Marry. Sometime after the 1901 Census and after all the children were born, John packed up and moved his family to Calgary Alberta. Sometime after his only son Hubert died in 1914, he moved to Vancouver B.C. where his eldest daughter Myrtle, might have married a second time to George Bell August 22, 1921. The Name given Is Myrtle Rena Benedict, this marriage needs further research, could be ficticious. Anyway John lived there until his death on the 21 Dec 1949 and Mary died in Vancouver also, one year later on 27 Nov 1950
