The marriage took place last evening at the home of the brides father, James Benedict, 31 Cronyn street, of Charles Hodges, a well known young farmer near Oxford Centre, to Miss Margaret Benedict. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. H. Crosley, of Oxford Centre. The bride was assisted by her sister, Miss Kate, and the groom by Herbert Longfield of Crampton. The bride was dressed in grey broadcloth trimmed with white satin and the bridesmaid in white. The one carried a bouquet of pink and white roses and the other a shower bouquet of carnations. Mr. and Mrs. Hodges left on the 2:30 a.m. train for London and other western points, after the wedding party had enjoyed a tastily prepared wedding repast. Guests to the number of 40 were present from Curries, Crampton, London and other points.

The Final Years for Maggie

Charles was born in England in 1858 and came to Canada at age twelve, He married Maggie on March 28, 1901, Maggie gave birth to three sons and one daughter. Charles died on July 01, 1931. According to the obituary of Maggie's mother Sarah, Maggie was living in Detroit in July of 1930. Charles obituary has him living in Woodstock or Ingersoll at that time, possibly because of his health, and possibly Maggie was employed in Detroit. Maggie lived on and died in 1952, both are buried in Woodstock, in Hillview Cemetery on Fifth Avenue Lot#1 Range 7 graves 6&7 their son Fred is buried beside Maggie and Charles, and Stewart and wife are also buried in Hillview Cemetery.

The death occurred on Wednesday evening at the residence of his son-in-law, Roy Hawkins, Bell St., Ingersoll, of Charles A. Hodges, well known and highly respected former citizen of Woodstock. The late Mr. Hodges was in his 73rd year, and had been ill only for a short time. He was born in England, coming to this country when twelve years of age. He farmed in East Oxford for a number of years, moving to woodstock 30 years ago. He had resided there until about a year ago, when he came to live with his daughter in Ingersoll. He is survived by the widow: three sons, Fred, Alvin and Stewart, all of Woodstock; and one daughter, Mrs. Roy Hawkins, of Ingersoll. He was a member of the central Methodist church of Woodstock, and was also well known in the city as an ardent horticulturalist. The remains will rest at the Fred S. Newman funeral home, Ingersoll, until 4 o'clock on Friday afternoon. The funeral will be held from 166 Graham street, Woodstock, on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock to the Woodstock Methodist Cemetery.
