William and Ann
William's first wife Ann Elmer b. January 08, 1837, thus being the source of William Elmer's second name. Ann's death record has her, as Ann Benedict died April 08, 1877, age 41 yrs. Farmer's wife, born England died of Consumption, duration 1 year. Dr. McGegor, informant William Benedict, lot 12, con. 7 Sullivan Twp., Registered Sept 3, 1877, Religion Church of England. Ann is buried, in the Anglican Pioneer Cemetery, on the west side of Conc. 7 (now Sideroad 40) across the road from William's property of Lot 12, Conc. 7. on the northern border line of the village of Desboro. The cemetery used from 1866 to 1924, is also the site of the long gone St. John's Anglican Church 1865 to 1887, The cemetery,now abandoned but has been rejuvenated with all stones cemented into a central pad. Her stone reads; In Memory of Ann Wife of William Benedict, Died August 8, 1877, Aged 40 yrs. 7 mths. Gently she is sleeping, She has breathed her last, Gently while you are weeping, She to heaven has passed.

SUDDEN DEATH OF MR. WM. BENEDICT
The death of Mr. William Benedict occurred suddenly this morning at 7 o'clock at his residence on the five acres. The deceased, who has resided in Nanaimo for the past year, had reached the advanced age of 79 years. He was suddenly seized with heart failure while engaged in his usual employment, about the house. He leaves a wife and three sons to mourn his loss. One son, R. J. Benedict, employed at the Lotus Hotel, Nanaimo. Reginald, another son, lives in Buffalo, New York, while John, the third son, is in Glen Ewen, Manitoba.
The funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the family residence, the Rev. R. J. Thompson officiating. Mr. A. E. Hilbert is in charge of the funeral arrangements. (this Obit received from Linda Miller)

Alice Benedict, of 566 Bannatyne Avenue, died Tuesday in the General Hospital, in her 86th year. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Mordue Bros. Funeral Home, to Riverside Cemetery. (again Thanks to Linda Miller)
