Lewis' Early Years

Lewis and Catherine's Wedding Announcement

"CROW-MACKENZIE A wedding of more than usual interest to the young people of Sarnia was that of Saturday when Miss Catherine Robertson Mackenzie, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mackenzie, of Sarnia became the bride of Lewis Pardo Crow, of Walkerville, son of Mrs. Crow and the late R. A. Crow, of Chatham. The wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents, 166 Penrose Street at 6:30 o'clock, with the Rev. Dr. J.J. Paterson, D.D., pastor of St. Andrew's Presbyterian church, officiating. The charming bride was given in marriage by her father and took her place before a bank of palms and ferns with tall standards of yellow and pink mums, while the wedding march was played by an orchestra. A sleeveless gown, Colonial style, of white satin with full skirt with band of net and applique of silver and orange blossoms, a long tulle veil arranged in a cap shape with a circlet of orange blossoms and clusters of orange blossoms at the side and tiny clusters caught throughout the length of the veil, and carrying a shower boquet of pink roses and lillies of the valley, composed the bride's costume. She was attended by her sister, Miss Ruth Mackenzie, wearing a smart dress of colonial style of yellow satin with inset bands of orchid and green with trimming of gold lace and carried a boquet of yellow roses, mauve baby mums and stevia. Mr. Douglas Macpherson, of Sarnia was the best man. Mrs. Macakenzie, the bride's mother was gowned in a dress of black and gold lace. Mrs. Crow, mother of the groom, was gowned in black. Following the wedding, the guests danced at the Riding club, and at supper time the announcement of the engagement of Miss Ruth Mackenzie to B. Douglas Macpherson was made. Immediately after the ceremeony Mr. and Mrs. Crow left by motor for Detroit and from there will go west to Chicago for a brief honeymoon. They will reside in Walkerville. The bride chose for traveling a dress of jungle green georgett, a coat trimmed with nutria and hat to match. Out of town guests were Mrs. R.A. Crow and Miss Crow of Chatham, Mrs. R.S. Donald, Mrs. Ralph King, Miss E.D. Gordon of Toronto, Mrs. Steward Mackenzie, Miss Eleanor Mackenzie, of Pittsburg, Misses Margaret and Jean Mackenzie, of Detroit, Miss Hope Mackenzie, of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. L.T. Constable of Hamilton, Mr. Malcolm Mackenzie, of Detroit, and Mr. James Mackenzie, of Montreal." (Sarnia Observer, Dec 13, 1926)
