Amo’s Early Years

Amos and Mary Townsend

Mary was the daughter of Captain Robert and Hannah Townsend of New Haven, Conn. She was born on May 16, 1775.

Amos was a merchant and was connected with his brother-in-law, Capt. Amos Townsend, in the East India shipping trade. Amos removed with his entire family in 1817 to Meadville, Pa., where he died on Feb. 27, 1845. Mary passed away some ten years later on Jan. 1, 1855.
