Célia: Her Life
As a young woman, Célia worked as a domestic servant at Newcastle, about thirty miles up river from Neguac. Later she remained at home and took care of her elderly parents. Célia was Comeau Settlement's first and only Postmistress, serving in that capacity from January 1951 to September 1961. A letter of reference, from the District Director of Postal Services, indicates that her office was well managed from both a financial and an operational standpoint.
Célia never married and after her brother Omer's passing, she lived in the family home by herself, until declining health forced her to move to the Neguac Nursing Home%CITE{1002}%.
