m. April 7, 1785, Rhoda, dau. Theophilus5 (18) Benedict. He d. at Danbury, 1806. He may have been the Daniel, private of Capt. Beebe's Co. of thirty-six soldiers (picked men), who were taken prisoners, Nov. 16, 1776, at the fall of Fort Washington. Of these, four were killed during the assault, twenty died on board the prison ships, in Livingston's sugar house, and in the North Church. On the 27th Dec., an exchange of prisoners took place, and only twelve survivors were able to sail for Connecticut, six of whom died on their way home. Daniel was one of the six who lived to reach home. (Hollister's Conn., vol. II, p. 289.) Ch.
