The Parents of Samuel

Samuel was of the third-generation of Benedicts pioneering on New England soil and the first-generation in Danbury. He was the second child and first son of Samuel Benedict (mother unknown at this time). Samuel's father was raised in the English colony on the east end of Long Island, who then came to Connecticut in about 1665 as a young lad.

Abigail was b 30Jul1678 at Stratford, CT. She was the daughter of Thomas Pickett and Abigail Seymour b Jan1655 at Norwalk, CT

Samuel and Abigail

Abigail Pickett had a brother, Ephraim Pickett, who was co-executor of Samuel's will.

All that is known of him%CITE{1001}% has been gathered from his will, made March 4, 1734/5, and recorded April 9, 1734/5. He mentions his wife Abigail (Pickett?), eldest son Ebenezer, second and youngest son Samuel, youngest daughter Mercy, a daughter Hannah, grandson Matthew Wildman, only child of daughter Mary, deceased. The will appoints the wife Abigail and Ephraim Pickett, brother-in-law, executors, etc. He died on January 18, 1735. His inventory, approved on April 9, 1735, foots £700.
