It is believed that he and his brother John had emigrated to Canada around 1841 and had settled in Seymour Township, Northumberland County, Ontario. He is reported to have returned to Scotland in 1844 to arrange for his parents and siblings to emigrate. He never married and lived on the family farm on Lot 22, Concession 6 of Seymour Township until his death. He was generally known as "Old Geordie" to his friends and family. He was buried in the Burnbrae Cemetery. ---+++_References_ Ref.1 - Old Parochial Registers for the Parishes of Cruden and Old Deer in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
