" The home of Mrs. A.R. Crow, 25 Emma street was the scene of a quiet wedding ceremony on Friday afternoon, November nineteenth at four o'clock when Miss Bertha Irene Crow, daughter of the late A. R. Crow and of Mrs. Crow became the bride of James H. Couper of Walkerville. The home was a profusion of chrysanthemums before which the contracting parties spoke their voiws. The bride who was becomingly attired in a frock of white crepe backed satin wearing a corsage of Butterfly roses and lillies of the valley, was attended by her sister, Miss Louise Crow as bridesmaid and the groom was supported by Mr. T. Howard James. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. E. Jones of the Victoria Avenue United church in the presensce of immediate relatives and few friends and following the ceremony a buffet luncheon was served before Mr. and Mrs. Couper left by motor on a trip through Michigan before they take up their residence in Walkerville. Mrs. Forth Groves of Walkerville, sister of the bride, was among the guests form out of town present." (Chatham Daily News, Monday, Nov 23, 1920)

James Henry Couper of Walkerville was born 1890 and died 17 Jun 1945 in Chatham.

Bertha's Obituary

"COUPER: Mrs. James Henry, 85 years of age, the former Bertha Irene Crow, a resident of 19 Emma Street, passed away in Chatham, on Friday, March 9, 1979. Her husband, James Henry Couper predeceased. Surviving are one daugher, Mrs. T.P. (Betty Jean) Karry of Chatham; one granddaughter, Kim and two grandsons, Todd and Jeff; one sister, Mrs. T.F. (Annie) Groves of Lake Worth, Florida and one brother, Louis P. Crow of Windsor also survive. One sister, Mrs. Louise Morrison and two brothers, Alvin R. and George Crow have predeceased. The funeral service will be conducted in "The Chapel" of the Stephen-Alexander Funeral Home, 245 Wellington Street West on Monday, March 12 1979 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. A. John Neal of Victoria Avenue United Church officiating. Interment will take place in Maple Leaf Cememtery. Visiting after 7 p.m. on Sunday. Contributions to the Ontario Heart Foundation would be appreciated and may be left at the funeral home."
