The origin of the surname _Weber_ is obscured in antiquity, but it is likely derived from the German noun meaning "weaver".  Our Weber ancestors have been traced back to Alsace, a small region that borders on Germany and France, and has been claimed and conquered by each side over centuries of wars.<BR />
Our earliest record is for a [[JacobWeber16XXen][Jacob Weber]], who lived in the Bas-Rhin district of Alsace in the 1600's and his son [[MichaelWeber1660en][Michael Weber]].  The Canadian branch of the Weber family, with [[JosephWeber1840en][Joseph Weber]], arrived in about 1860's in Quebec, then settled in Ontario after 1890.  His son [[EmilWeber1879en][Emil Weber]] migrated to Alberta in 1902, where he anglicized the family surname to Webber during World War One.<BR />

L'origine du nom _«Weber»_ est masqué dans l'antiquité, mais il est probablement dérivé du substantif allemand qui signifie «tisserand». Nos ancêtres ont été remonte à l'Alsace, une petite région qui borde l'Allemagne et la France, et a été revendiquée et conquise par chaque côté au cours des siècles de guerres.<BR />
Notre premier disque est pour un [[JacobWeber16XXfr][Jacob Weber]], ui vivait dans le district du Bas-Rhin d'Alsace dans les 1600's, et son fils [[MichaelWeber1660fr][Michael Weber]].  La branche canadienne de la famille Weber, avec [[JosephWeber1840fr][Joseph Weber]], arrivé vers 1860 à Québec, puis s'installe en Ontario après 1890. Son fils [[EmilWeber1879fr][Emil Weber]] migré vers l'Alberta en 1902, où il a anglicisé le nom de famille de «Webber» lors de la Première Guerre mondiale.<BR />
