The Final Years of Albert

ALBERT BENEDICT DIES AT MEAFORD; --- Meaford Oct. 05, 1951 Albert Benedict, a farmer in his native township of St. Vincent for many years, died at the home of his son, Gordon Benedict of Meaford, following a lengthy illness. He had been bedfast for the last year and a half. Last July he came to Meaford to make his home with his son. He was 81. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Benedict of St. Vincent and he farmed in that township as a young man before going to Manitoulin Island for nine years. Fifty three years ago he married Margaret Bell of Meaford. She predeceased him two years ago. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Benedict farmed in St. Vincent until 1933 when they returned to Owen Sound. He resided in that city until this year. Surviving are two sons Gordon of Meaford and Roy of Owen Sound, and two daughters, Clara, Mrs. Wesley Snell of Meaford and Margaret, Mrs. Donald "Mac" Lourie of Owen Sound. There are nine grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters Levina, Mrs. Ben Vail of St. Vincent Maryanne, Mrs. Reg Emary of St. Vincent and one brother Herbert Benedict of Meaford. Mr. Benedict was a member of the Baptist Church in St. Vincent, Interment Duxbury Cemetery.
