Foster 1851 ---+++_The Parents of Alexander_ Alexander's parents fled the upheaval in Connecticut following the American Revolution. His father sought refuge with other Tory stalwarts in the still-British colonies of New Brunswick and then to Nova Scotia. His mother was from Long Island in New York state. ---+++_Alexander's Early Years_ Little is known of Alexander as a young man. He was baptized at Wilmot Trinity Anglican church in Middleton, Kings Co., Nova Scotia. ---+++_Alexander and Eliza_ Eliza's father was Alexander Patterson, her mother was Elizabeth Ovilvie. Eliza was born in Aylesford in 18 March 1803. The Pattersons were early pioneer settlers in the Aylesford township of Nova Scotia. The family roots go back to Armagh, Ireland, arriving in Halifax in 1770.
