Gilbert Hartwell Benedict was b 10Jul1846, m 1875 Lilah Teller. Newspaper man in editing and publishing. Associated with his brother's Thomas E & Louis R for many years. Also US Government in Washington, DC at the same time his brother, Thomas E was there. Edited a newspaper at Saratoga Springs, NY. children:

I. Georgia b 1877. Grad Wells Coll & Sage Univ.-Degrees: AB, AM, & PHD. She won three scholarships in Sage Univ. in competition with male and female students from all colleges in the country. She is one of the most highly educated young women in the country. She held a position in the State Library at Albany in the Book Review Division. She d Aug1957.
