Notice in the Chatham Daily News, Chatham Ontario, dated Tuesday, 8 December 1936:

MANY MOURN DEATH OF MRS. S. BENEDICT
WALLACEBURG, December 8 - Rev. D. W. Williams B. A. of Trinity United Church officiated yesterday afternoon at funeral services for the late Mrs. John Smedley Benedict at her residence on Poat Street.

A large crowd was in attendance and during the service the hymn "Abide With Me" was sung. Special flowers were sent by the Trinity United Church Women's Association and the Snye Patriotic League. Relatives and mourners were in attendance from Sarnia, Dresden, Blenheim, Thamesville, Mitchell's Bay, Detroit and Windsor.

The pallbearers were Geo. Dean, W. R. Martin, J. M. Hess, Joe Farewell, John Glendinning, and William Biden. Interment took place in Wallaceburg cemetery.
