CHARLES ELUE BENEDICT OF MEAFORD DIES; ---Meaford - Charles Benedict, 63, died Sunday at his home on Miller Street. Mr. Benedict was born near Balaclava, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Benedict. he farmed for several years on the 11th and 9th lines of St. Vincent Township. About 24 years ago he moved to Meaford where he was a laborer. On May 14, 1923 he married Aleda Doran who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Ellis of Owen Sound, Lyle of Meaford, Carl of Scarboro and Angus of Prince George, B.C. and six daughters, Bernice, Mrs. Stanley Dainton of Highland Creek, Muriel, Mrs. Rod Franklin of Wasaga Beach, Joyce, Mrs. Fyfe Butchart, Norma, Mrs Wilfred Dunlop, Joan and Beth, Mrs. Ted Bumstead all of Meaford, 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild, Two sisters, Violet, Mrs. William Woolley, of Meaford and Pearl, Mrs. Lorenzo Fulford, of Owen Sound. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Meaford, St. Vincent Twp., Grey Co., Ontario, Canada.

The Final Years of Aleda

DEATH OF MRS. CHARLEY BENEDICT, MEAFORD;--Mrs Charley Benedict, 70, of Meaford died Friday, October 8, 1977 in the Meaford Nursing Home. Born in Woodford, the daughter of the late Ellis and Tersha Doran. She and Mr. Benedict, whom she married 53 years ago, farmed in St. Vincent Township for several years before moving to Meaford, where they lived for most of their lives. Mr. Benedict died in 1967. She is survived by four sons, Ellis of Owen Sound, Lyle of Meaford, Carl of Scarborough and Angus of Kamloops, British Columbia and Six daughters, Bernice , Mrs. Stan Dainton of Westhill, Murial, Mrs, Rod Franklin of Wasaga Beach, Joyce, Mrs. Fyfe Butchart, Norma, Mrs Wilf Dunlop, Joanne, Mrs Jean Massey and Beth, Mrs. Ted Bumstead, all of Meaford. Also surviving are a Brother Stewart of Meaford, 24 grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister died previously. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Meaford, St. Vincent Twp., Grey Co., Ontario, Canada.
