Parents:
Children with William Crisp:
- Adeline Crisp; b. about 1849, From the 1861 Census for Kent County "NOTE" Whether this is their daughter or not I am not sure, as I have not found her after this, as of yet. She could be from a previous marriage, as Elizabeth was living with her whole family in 1851. There would not be time for her to have a thirteen year old child unless out of wedlock.
Children with William Pender:
- William Pender; b. 27 June 1856 (William Pender's 1st Marriage)

Betty’s Early Years
Betty and William Crisp
So far I have not been able to find the marriage of William Crisp and Elizabeth, but
sometime after the 1851 Census where we find Elizabeth with her entire family, it seems that Elizabeth "Betty" met and married William Crisp. We find on the 1861 Census for Chatham Twp., Kent County, Ontario, William Crisp age 50, born England 1811, Farmer, cannot read or write and wife Elizabeth age 35 born Canada can read and write and a thirteen year old girl Adeline born Canada, going to school. They are listed as Episcopal and living in a one story log house.
By 1871 Elizabeth and William Crisp shows, up on the 1871 Census for Elderslie Twp., North Bruce, Schedule 1, page 21. William is now 55 and Elizabethis 46. On May 30th 1875 William Crisp receives from the Crown the patent for the east half of lot 33 on Conc.#6, 50 acres. Now on September 05, 1876 William Crisp dies eleven days after having an accident (possibly on the farm) Doctor and informant Dr. Cook of Chesley. William Crisp is buried in a small old Cemetery named St. Andrews Cemetery, Conc.#4, Lot#23, Elderslie Twp. All plots at this cemetery are 16'x16' with a 4 foot separation with a 12 ft entrance road running up the center. William's plot is to the right of the road. There is a limestone marker but it is very worn and can be barely seen or read by feel, but it does read "in memory of William Crisp, died Sept 6, 1876, aged 78 years". Elizabeth could be buried here considering the size of the plot, but there is no marker or record of any other burial.
On Sept. 3, 1876 Elizabeth is arranging a mortgage on the property of east half of lot 33 on Conc.#6, 50 acres. On Nov. 26 1879 she is filing a Quite Claim on same property.
Betty and William Pender
So now, on September 09, 1881, Elizabeth, marries the widower, William Reid Pender, a fine Artist, born 1815 in Scotland, age 66, s/o James Pender & Margaret Reid.
After about 10 years of marriage to Elizabeth, William Pender dies on October 15, 1891, of Appolexy, Ceribris, leaving poor Elizabeth a widow again. William Pender is buried in Chesley Cemetery, but also no record for Elizabeth. All records for Chesley Cemetery were destroyed in a fire so her record could be lost. the only records they have are mainly from gravestones and William Pender has a Gravestone, again, Limestone and hard to read.
The Final Years for Betty
On January 10, 1901 Elizabeth Pender, housewife, widow died in Chesley, after 2 years General Dibility. Doctor and informant J.M.Stewart of Chesley. So far I have had no luck finding where Elizabeth is buried.(death information from Ancestry.com)
From Chesley Enterprise, Thursday, January 17th 1901
DIED - - PENDER,- In Chesley on Thursday Jan. 10th, Elizabeth Pender aged 70 years, 1 month.
As far as an obit for William Crisp, he died before The Chesley Enterprise, existed so I might try the Paisley Paper.
