1.3 <B>Samuel<SUP><I>2</I></SUP> Benedict</B> (<I>[[GenerationPage#DownTo1][Thomas]]<sup>1</SUP></I>); was born about 1649 at Southold, Long Island, (then) New Netherland. He continued to reside with his father until after his removal to Norwalk, Connecticut. There he married, first (unknown), by whom he had Joanna and Samuel. He married, second, July 7, 1678,<SUP><I>A</I></SUP> Rebecca, daughter of Thomas Andrews of Fairfield, Connecticut, by whom he had five children, the last two born in Danbury, Connecticut.  Rebecca died after February 1723 and Samuel died in April of 1727 at Danbury.<BR>

All that is known of him has been gathered from his will, made March 4, 1734/35, and recorded April 9, 1734/35. He mentions wife Abigail (Pickett?), eldest son Ebenezer, second and youngest son Samuel, youngest daughter Mercy, a daughter Hannah, grandson Matthew Wildman, only child of daughter Mary, deceased. The will appoints the wife Abigail and Ephraim Picket, brother-in-law, executors, etc. He d. Jan. 18, 1735. His inventory, approved April 9, 1735, foots £700.%CITE{1001}%<BR>

Information derived from the administration of his estate, granted Dec. 6, 1714. He left widow Elizabeth (Barnum), and "four children in their nonage." Estate amounted to £240 16s. 11d. Ebenezer married 2nd, Mary [1.447], widow of Israel White and daughter of [[GenJames1650#DownTo144][1.44]] James<I><SUP>3</SUP></I> Benedict (descendant of James).  He died March 27, 1796. He was dead in Jan. 1767, when his father made his will.  The estate of his brother Samuel was distributed in 1756 to Isaac and Nathaniel Benedict of Danbury, and John Benedict, Son of John, Deceased, of Cornwall.  He certainly, therefore, had one son, and perhaps other children.%CITE{1001}%<BR>

1.342 <B>Isaac<SUP><I>4</I></SUP> Benedict</B> (<I>[[#DownTo134][Nathaniel]]<SUP>3</SUP>, [[#DownTo13][Samuel]]<SUP>2</SUP>, [[GenerationPage#DownTo1][Thomas]]<SUP>1</SUP></I>); born in 1719; married 174? to Mary Videtto of Danbury, who died Nov. 2, 1803.  He died Sept. 15, 1813 at Monterey, Massachusetts.  He bought land in Tyringham in 1772, but was living in Danbury when he made his will, Aug. 3, 1801.  His will was proved Oct. 7, 1813 at Lenox, Massachusetts.%CITE{1001}%<BR>

He was a revolutionary soldier; Sergeant Nathaniel Benedict served in Captain Symour's Company in Colonel John Mead's 9<SUP>th</SUP> Regiment of Connecticut Militia from Aug. 12, 1776 to Sept. 13, 1776 and from Oct. 24, 1776 to Jan. 24, 1777 in same company and Regiment State of Connecticut under the command of General Wooster of Connecticut Militia; Nathaniel received an honourable discharge.
