George was going to school at age eight, according to the 1871 census, and living on his father's farm in 1881, presumably working there.  He taught Sunday school and was superintendent for twenty-five years%CITE{1002}%.

 Mary Dearman was born September 15, 1867 in Rawdon, Hants Co., NS. She was the daughter of Isaiah Dearman and Amelia Mason.  Mary passed away in 1959.
 
George and Mary were married July 15, 1885 at the St. James Anglican Church rectory in Newport, Hants Co., Nova Scotia, by Rev. Henry How. Witnesses were Harriet and Mary How.
