---+++_Early Years of Jay Silas_
Jay Silas was known as Jay S. Benedict.  He was born in the family house on Todd Hill Road in Cornwall, CT.  He lived and worked on the farm until he was about 20 years old when he left for Boston.  He got a job on July 19, 1910 with the Sherwin-Williams Co. and worked for that paint company for the next 54 years, retiring on August 31, 1964.   

---+++_Jay and Myrtle Irene_
Myrtle Irene went by her middle name, Irene.  Irene was born July 22, 1898 on the grounds of the Doughoregan Estate in Ellicott City, Howard Co., MD.  Her father, Harry Philip Krah, was a groundskeeper at the time who lived on the estate with his wife, Mellie Crandle Nickerson Krah.  Irene died on July 31, 1986 in Haddonfield, NJ.

Both Jay S. and Irene are buried in the Cornwall Village Cemetery, Cornwall, CT.
