ST. VINCENT WOMAN DIES; -- Martha Beatrice Benedict, wife of J. J. Jolley, was buried in the Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford on Tuesday last. Funeral services were conducted at the Bayview Baptist Church by Rev. D.C. Harny assisted by Rev. H.W. Hill. Pallbearers were Frank Benedict, Lloyd Spence, Elgin Fulford, Cecil Long of Woodford and Kenneth Boyle , Meaford. Death occured in the Meaford General Hospital. Deceased who was most highly regarded, was born in St. Vincent Township, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Benedict. She was married in 1923 to John James Jolley, Who survives. Other survivors are two sons, Murray and Ronald of Toronto, two daughters Phillis, Mrs. John Ireland of Kemble and June of Stratford, two sisters , Mrs. pearl Fulford of Owen Sound and Mrs. William Woolley of Meaford and two Brothers, Roy Benedict of Owen Sound and Charles Benedict of Meaford. Martha was in her 57th year and was a member of the Bayview Baptist Church. She died Saturday Sept. 14, 1957 Buried, Tuesday Sept. 17, 1957. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Meaford, St. Vincent Twp., Grey Co., Ontario.

The Final Years for James

FOUND DEAD IN HOME; --- John James Jolley a well known St. Vincent Twp., farmer, was found dead in his home on the 11th line north, around 7 p.m. Thursday December 28, 1961, by a neighbor Lewis Snell. Mr. Jolley had lived alone since the death of his wife, the former Martha Beatrice Benedict, four years ago. He had a high blood pressure condition and it was thought he had been dead almost 24 hours. he was in his 62nd year. Born in St. Vincent township, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Jolley. He served on the St. Vincent Township council for a time. He was an adherent of Bayview Baptist Church and a member of Bayview Orange Lodge. Surviving are two sons and two daughters: Phillis, Mrs. John Ireland, of Kembel; Murray, June and Ronald, all of Toronto; four sisters, Ar---, Mrs. Albert Rows; and Annie, Mrs. Roy Boyle, both of Meaford; Marth, Mrs. Clifford Long and Grace, Mrs. Elmore Woods, both of Woodford.The funeral was held Saturday afternoon from the Ferguson Funeral Chapel to the Meaford Baptist Church, where the service was conducted by Rev. C.A. Hill. Interment Lakeview Chapel. The pallbearers were neighbors; Louis Snell, Ken Kerr,Elmer Scarrow, George Jolley, Howard Adams and Fred Moore. Burial, Lakeview Cemetery, Meaford, St. Vincent Twp., Grey Co., Ontario.
