Rufus Benedict and Nellie Maitland Simpson

(The following information was given by Marjorie Wardlow, daughter of Jean Benedict in 2003.)

Rufus and Nellie were married in Norwalk, CT on Sept 12, 1907. They lived in Everett, MA and Melrose, MA before purchasing the family home at 175 Melrose Street, Melrose, in about 1913. The home was built in 1874 and bears a historical marker. Rufus sold the home about 3 years after Nellie's death in 1960.

Rufus and Nellie had 7 children; Annie Blackburn Parsons was the midwife.

Rufus remarried in 1962.
