Susan's Early Years

Susan and William

Susan Benedict married a widower, William A Wager, who was the father of three young children. William's first wife was Margaret Huff.

Given the age of William's three children at the time of his marriage to Susan, it can be presumed that Susan became their mother in all senses of the word.

Susan and husband William & family appear on the 1861 and 1871 census in Sophiasburgh, Prince Edward County. Given there are no more children appearing on the censuses, other than William's three, it can determined that Susan and William never had children of their own, or none that lived.

Susan Benedict-Wager died relatively young, at age 46. After her death,William Wager went on to marry a third time, to Eliza Wilson-Parks a widow.
