James' Early Years
James was the first white male child born in Danbury in Connecticut. His father had made purchase from the Indians of the first settlement of Paquiogue (now Danbury). James was born in the same year

James and Mary Andrus
James and Mary certainly knew each other, for his father James Sr. had married Mary's mother, who was a widow of Abraham Andrus. Mary was the daughter of Abraham Andrus and Sarah Porter and was born on May 18, 1689.
Their marriage date has not yet been discovered.
James was a Deacon of the Congregational church in Danbury

The Final Years for James
The will for James, dated September 16, 1760, mentions his wife Mary; children James, Benjamin, Hezekiah, Thomas, Mary PHoebe, Abigail and Sarah; gradnson Michael; and granddaughters Anna and Amy, the children of son John, deceased. The will was proved on June 23, 1761; with witnesses Captain John Benedict and Lieutenant John Benedict. Inventory was filed on October 20, 1761 to the amount of ₤2,461

James was born at Southold Long Island; removed with his parents to Norwalk, CT, and there married 10May1676 Sarah, dau John and Sarah Gregory, b 3Dec1652. He was one of the eight who purchased and settled Danbury, CT. He sold his property in Norwalk, 26Mar1691. He m 2nd, prior to Mar1707-08, Sarah, dau of Robert Porter and widow Abraham Andrus, b 20Dec1657. [Abraham Andrus died 3May1693] He survived until Aug1717, certainly, when he deeded propety. He was b 6Feb1649/50. Chd:
