   * Capt. BENJAMIN, b. Sept. 27, 1740, at Danbury, Connecticut; m. Mary Bouton, b. June 11, 1742, and d. July 16, 1818. He settled in Winchester in 1770; was chosen highway surveyor at the first annual town meeting, 1771. His first deed in the town is dated April 4, 1771. He was lieutenant of the militia, and served as such in the Revolution. First represented the town in the general assembly, in 1787, and several times afterwards. Removed to Coventry, Chenango county, in 1807, where he d. Sept. 27, 1823.%CITE{1001}%

   * CAPTAIN BENJAMIN BENEDICT, from Danbury, was chosen a Surveyor of Highways at the first annual town meeting.  His first deed dated April 4, 1771, in which he is named Benjamin Benedict, junior, conveys to him the Colonel Whiting Lot on both sides of Mad River where the Danbury School-house stands.  His homestead stood on a discontinued road east of the present road, running east of the school-house, on the hill south of Mad River.  He built a saw mill on the south side of Mad River, above the bridge, nealy all traces of which have now disappeared.  He removed to Coventry, Chenango Co., New York, in 1807.  He married, May 27, 1762, Mary Bouton.%CITE{1004}%

[[TimothyBenedict1723][CAPTAIN TIMOTHY BENEDICT]], from Danbury,... bought in 1771 the eastern half of the lot originally purchased by Captain Benjamin Benedict.
