CALEB, b. 1709; m. Mehitable, dau. Caleb and Mehitable (BLATCHLY) Hoyt of Norwalk, who was b. 1714, and d. Dec. 13, 1797; moved to New Canaan, and was received into the church, 1773; surveyor, lister, constable, and tything-man, between 1735 and 1773; selectman, 1774 and 1785; was known as "Ensign" as early as 1755; lived on Brushy Ridge, and d. May 19, 1761, of small-pox. Ch. all b. New Canaan.1
