_Of the seven children listed, only the first, James Wood Benedict, is the offspring of Fanny and Jonathan Bell Benedict. Five of the remaining six: Fanny, Mary Ellen, Jesse (Jessie Amelia), Antoinette Bell, and Sarah are their __grandchildren__  by their son James Wood Benedict and his wife Harriet Durland (see B in A-vol.II, p.114). I find no evidence for a Hugh._

_Per B in A - vol. I, p.101:  Fanny Benedict was the __second__ wife of Jonathan Bell Benedict; they had only two offspring, James Wood Benedict and Hubert Van Waggenen Benedict. Jonathan and his first wife, Millicent Hickox, had  three children: Antoinette, Elizabeth, and Andrew._

Fanny Benedict and Jonathan Bell Benedict are 3rd cousins.  Their common ancestors are John Benedict Sr Deacon and Phoebe Gregory.

In addition to being the parents of their children, they are also third cousins, one time removed
