Lieutenant Daniel2 Benedict (
Thomas1); born at Southold, Long Island, 1649/50, and after his removal to Norwalk, Connecticut, married Mary, daughter of Matthew Marvin of Norwalk, Connectuct. He was a soldier in the direful swamp fight, Dec. 19, 1675, a fight which has scarcely a parallel in the annals of ancient or modern warfare. He sold his property in Norwalk, March 25, 1690, and moved to Danbury, Connecticut. The date of his death is not known. He was certainly living Feb. 15, 1722-3. His signature is attached to a deed bearing date Aug. 17, 1717.%CITE{1001}%
