GEORGE BENEDICT SERVICE HELD AT ST. JOSEPH'S.
Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated February 19 for the late George Wallace Benedict, who died at Pleasant Valley Manor on February 16, 1994. He was 86. Born at Port Arthur, Ontario, Mr. Benedict married Mary Isobel Adams on February 09, 1935. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Mr. Benedict worked in the plumbing and heating industry until he became injured, but he still enjoyed his family, fishing and the outdoors. he was particularly proud of the high quality fishing flies he hand tied.
Mr. Benedict is survived by his wife, Mary Isobel at Armstrong, five daughters, Patricia Mary Benedict at Vernon, Cecile Jo-anne Nichol (Jack) at Vernon, Ann Elaine Fransen (Martin) at Vernon, Helen Elaine McLean (Ken) at Revelstoke, Catherine Irene Sintich (Dwayne) at Armstrong, andfour sons, Patrick George Benedict (Linda) at Grand Prairie, George Wallace Jr. (Anne) at Golden, Michael James (Susan) at Kamloops, Leo Anthony (Karen) at Calgary, as well as 30 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Mr Benedict was predeceased by his oldest daughter, Teresa Maureen, in 1990.
The mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father J. R. McLeod celebrant. Cremation. Bearers were his sons, Patrick George Benedict, George Wallace Jr., Michael James, Leo Anthony and honorary bearers were Bob Weskett and Dennis Albert.
Mountain View Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, friends make memorial contributions to the B. C. Lung Association.
