Sarah was the eldest daughter of William Case Benedict and Rachel Bush. 

Sarah Benedict appears with her parents and siblings on the 1851 Census in Thurlow Township then in 1861 she is living in Belleville, age 19 in the home of Elizabeth Jane and Joseph Harry.  

It is quite possible that Elizabeth Jane is the Elizabeth J 'Benedict' who appeared on the 1851 Census with William & Rachel and family.

Sarah Benedict married James Sheffield at the home of her sister and her sister's husband, Mary Emily & John Spear.
They appeared in the 1911 census in Belleville with their daughter Bertha who is often listed as Keitha though here birth certificate has else. James is listed as born Jun 1837 in On.

Sarah and husband James Sheffield resided in Thurlow Township, Hastings County, for over 30 years, raising their family.

James Royal Sheffield died Jul 13 1916 at Rockwood Hospital near Kingston On. He was listed as 78 and married.
