Second Generation

1.3 Samuel2 Benedict (Thomas1); was born about 1649 at Southold, Long Island, (then) New Netherland. He continued to reside with his father until after his removal to Norwalk, Connecticut. There he married, first (unknown), by whom he had Joanna and Samuel. He married, second, July 7, 1678,A Rebecca, daughter of Thomas Andrews of Fairfield, Connecticut, by whom he had five children, the last two born in Danbury, Connecticut. Rebecca died after February 1723 and Samuel died in April of 1727 at Danbury.

Third Generation

1.32 Samuel3 Benedict (Samuel2, Thomas1); born March 5, 1675. All that is known of him has been gathered from his will, made March 4, 1734/35, and recorded April 9, 1734/35. He mentions wife Abigail (Pickett?), eldest son Ebenezer, second and youngest son Samuel, youngest daughter Mercy, a daughter Hannah, grandson Matthew Wildman, only child of daughter Mary, deceased. The will appoints the wife Abigail and Ephraim Picket, brother-in-law, executors, etc. He d. Jan. 18, 1735. His inventory, approved April 9, 1735, foots 700.1

1.33 Thomas3 Benedict (Samuel2, Thomas1); born March 27, 1679. Information derived from the administration of his estate, granted Dec. 6, 1714. He left widow Elizabeth (Barnum), and "four children in their nonage." Estate amounted to 240 16s. 11d. The widow and sergeant Francis Barnum were the administrators.1

1.34 Nathaniel3 Benedict (Samuel2, Thomas1); born 1680; married Sarah ????; died October 9, 1767. The information is derived from his will made Jan. 19, 1767 and proved at the end of that year on Dec. 11th. The estate inventory amounted to 221 3s. 7d.1

She was dead as of Sept. 1, 1763 when her son Ebenezer chose his father guardian. Ebenezer married 2nd, Mary [1.447], widow of Israel White and daughter of 1.44 James3 Benedict (descendant of James). He died March 27, 1796. Estate 571 16s 0d.1

1.324 Samuel4 Benedict (Samuel3, Samuel2, Thomas1); born 1722; married Dec. 9, 1742 to Phoebe, daughter of 1.45 Captain John3 Benedict (descendant of James). His will was made June 18, 1787 and proved June 12, 1792, his death occurring May 19, 1792. Inventory foots about 1200. Will names widow Phoebe; Samuel, eldest son; Eleazer; Asa; Elijah; Abigail, wife of David Knapp; Phoebe; wife of Samuel Dibble; Mary, wife of Captain Justus Barnum; Rebecca, wife of Joseph Beebe Jr.; and Anna, granddaughter, wife of Noble Sanford1.

1.341 John4 Benedict (Nathaniel3, Samuel2, Thomas1). He was dead in Jan. 1767, when his father made his will. The estate of his brother Samuel was distributed in 1756 to Isaac and Nathaniel Benedict of Danbury, and John Benedict, Son of John, Deceased, of Cornwall. He certainly, therefore, had one son, and perhaps other children.1

1.342 Isaac4 Benedict (Nathaniel3, Samuel2, Thomas1); born in 1719; married 174? to Mary Videtto of Danbury, who died Nov. 2, 1803. He died Sept. 15, 1813 at Monterey, Massachusetts. He bought land in Tyringham in 1772, but was living in Danbury when he made his will, Aug. 3, 1801. His will was proved Oct. 7, 1813 at Lenox, Massachusetts.1

1.343 Nathaniel4 Benedict (Nathaniel3, Samuel2, Thomas1); born 1723 at Ridgefield, Connecticut; married 1743 to Hannah Hawley Keller. He was a revolutionary soldier; Sergeant Nathaniel Benedict served in Captain Symour's Company in Colonel John Mead's 9th Regiment of Connecticut Militia from Aug. 12, 1776 to Sept. 13, 1776 and from Oct. 24, 1776 to Jan. 24, 1777 in same company and Regiment State of Connecticut under the command of General Wooster of Connecticut Militia; Nathaniel received an honourable discharge. Will made Oct. 26, 1805 and proved July 5, 1806.1, 2, 3

Timothy probably went to Winchester in Sept., 1771, where he resided until his death; died September 1771.1

Jabez lived at Danbury, Connecticut, at Cornwall, Connecticut and at Johnstown, New York, and died there in 1804.1
